Safeguarding and Child Protection

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and at Dallimore Primary and Nursery School we take safeguarding and child protection issues very seriously. All staff are kept up to date with their safeguarding training and we have three members of staff who have been trained as Designated Safeguarding Lead Officers (DSLs).

Rachel Crowther (Headteacher) is the Designated Safeguarding Lead officer

Matthew Gotheridge (Deputy Headteacher) and Caitlin Langton (Early Years Lead) are the deputy officers.

Please telephone the school office on 0115 9320741 to talk to the safeguarding team.

To inform us about a possible safeguarding/ bullying issue or any other concerns that you might have please email: concerns@dallimore.derbyshire.sch.uk

If you are concerned about the safety of a child or you require urgent help or advice Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190.

We discuss ways to keep safe with all the children throughout the year and in 2022 we worked with the school council to review the information available to pupils.

When we have a concern about a child we will, if appropriate, contact parents/ carers to discuss these concerns. This does not mean that we are accusing parents/ carers of harming their children but simply carrying out our moral and statutory duties to ensure all children are safe and happy.

If we have serious concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, this will be reported to Derbyshire County Council STARTING POINT 01629 533190 who will decide on the best course of action. Alternatively, we can complete a ‘request for support’ where professionals can decide upon the most appropriate support. This may result in an assessment by social care or a referral to the ‘Early Help’ team (see page on Early Help for more information).

We record all concerns and related conversations and communication on the secure online platform MY CONCERN and all staff are expected to use this resources with clarity and confidence.

Below you will find the school’s latest safeguarding policy plus links to external sites and related documents.

You will also find the link to the Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Board website where you can find further information and documents. Additional documents and policies relating to child protection procedures can be found within our ‘POLICIES’ section of the website.
