Year One Road Safety Session

Year 1 children took part in an important road safety lesson.

Our Year 1 children took part in an important road safety lesson delivered by Jan from Derbyshire County Council. The session focused on helping pupils understand how to stay safe when crossing the road.

The children learned the key steps to follow:

  • STOP at the edge of the pavement or kerb.
  • LOOK both ways for traffic.
  • LISTEN carefully for cars, bikes, lorries and so on.
  • THINK – is it safe to cross now?

Jan also explained why it’s dangerous to cross between parked cars, as drivers may not see you stepping out. The children showed great enthusiasm for keeping themselves safe.

We are proud of how well they listened and engaged with this vital life lesson. Please continue to reinforce these steps at home to help keep our children safe on the roads.
