Attendance

At Dallimore we believe that children can only achieve their full potential if they have excellent punctuality and attendance. In order to support parents to achieve this we regularly monitor all children’s attendance.
If we are worried about your child’s attendance we will contact you to let you know that we are monitoring this and if this falls below 90% we may invite you into school for an attendance panel with the Headteacher and the School Business Manager. The purpose of the meeting is to find out if there are any issues that we are unaware of and to offer support and advice.

If attendance does not improve then it is possible that legal proceedings will be requested.  We will do everything we can to avoid parents being issued with a fine, but please appreciate that it is parent’s responsibility to ensure good attendance.

If your child is absent for any reason, then it is important that you ring school asap to let us know the reason why. If your child needs to attend a medical appointment then please bring in their appointment card or letter so this can be authorised.

Holidays/ leave in term time

Derbyshire County Council policy statement:

In September 2013 the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 came into force. These regulations make it clear that Headteachers should not grant approval for any leave of absence during term-time, including holidays, unless there are exceptional circumstances. These regulations also state that holidays cannot be authorised retrospectively.

Any requests should be on an official school absence request form and handed into the school office for consideration prior to any holiday/leave arrangements being made.

You may be issued with a Penalty Notice should leave be taken which is not authorised. If unpaid this could lead to prosecution under section 444(1) of The Education Act 1996.

Whilst we don’t encourage term time holidays, we will consider each request for absence and make a decision as to whether to authorise this based on exceptional circumstances.
