Online safety
At Dallimore, keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility between school and home. Technology provides many exciting opportunities for learning, communication and creativity, but it is important that children understand how to use it safely, responsibly and respectfully.
Online safety encompasses the internet and all forms of electronic communication, including smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, social media and messaging platforms. Our aim is to equip children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy the benefits of technology while understanding how to stay safe and seek help if something does not feel right.
Through our curriculum, assemblies and wider safeguarding work, children learn how to:
- Stay safe online and protect their personal information.
- Recognise and report inappropriate, upsetting or harmful content.
- Communicate respectfully and responsibly with others.
- Understand the risks associated with social media, online gaming and messaging apps.
- Know who to speak to if they have concerns about something they have seen or experienced online.
We are increasingly aware that many children access online content from a very young age and may encounter apps, games or websites that are not suitable for their age. Exposure to inappropriate content, online bullying, offensive language and unsafe online behaviours can have a significant impact on children's wellbeing.
To support families, we regularly share information about age ratings, parental controls, emerging online risks and practical ways to keep children safe online. We also provide weekly online safety guidance and advice for parents through our school newsletter, helping families stay informed and confident in supporting their children's digital lives.
By working together, we can help children develop the skills and habits they need to navigate the online world safely, responsibly and positively.

Below you will find a range of useful resources, websites and documents that we use to support our online safety curriculum. These resources can help parents and carers understand current online risks, promote safe digital habits at home and support children in becoming confident and responsible digital citizens.
